Our BASIC REPERTOIRE includes concert favorites and historically significant or representative compositions of the "Classical" tradition, spanning the Middle Ages to the present. The recordings were chosen to include the most music literature in the fewest number of compact discs, with as little duplication of repertoire as possible. Critically acclaimed performances have been preferred, but the entire contents of the disc and price have also been determining factors among competitive items. The list is intended in part as a buying guide, so as items become out-of-print they are superceded by available recordings. "ON ORDER" items will replace JAXCAT items when received.

NOTE: Opera Titles are underlined in the list.

Jacksonville Public Library has an extensive classical music collection.

Search in JAXCAT for additional performances of listed items and other music recordings, for printed scores, and for books and videos.
