Biographical Information

Emerson Louis Jones was born April 5, 1936 in Jacksonville, Florida to Lydia Jones and Albert Mungin, Sr. His lifelong love of photography first emerged in junior high school; upon graduation from New Stanton Senior High School in 1953, he enlisted in the United Stated Air Force. After an honorable discharge, he enrolled in the New York Photography Institute. Upon graduation he began his career as a professional photographer. Always behind a camera, Mr. Jones capturted images of people and events with a keen eye and the click of a finger. He operated successful studios in New York City, Washington D.C. and Jacksonville, Florida.

In 1969 he married Elenda London; they moved to Maryland where their daughter, Elena Lydell, was born. The couple also had two sons, Emerson Jr. and Darien. In 1972, Mr. Jones began a second career as a Greyhound bus driver, retiring in 1998 after 26 years of service. He returned to Jacksonville, where he actively participated in religious and civic activities. He died on January 6, 2003.
