Traffic Engineering

Traffic engineering is concerned with the safe and efficient movement of vehicles and pedestrians on the City of Jacksonville's transportation system as well as assisting in the planning of additions or upgrades to that system.

This office is responsible for traffic engineering services, street markings and signs, traffic signals and other control devices in the City of Jacksonville. Responsibility includes the regulation and governing of both pedestrian and vehicular traffic through the use of traffic control devices. This responsibility is closely coordinated with the Sheriff's Office who enforces the laws and regulations relating to these traffic control devices.

Close coordination is also maintained with the Right of Way and Grounds Maintenance Division, the Florida Department of Transportation, JEA, JTA and other agencies regarding design and planning of streets to ensure safe and efficient control of traffic throughout the city.

To report a streetlight problem, please visit JEA's Web site  or call (904) 665-6000.

To report a signal, sign or other traffic problem, please call 630-CITY (2489) or visit 630-CITY online.
