Purpose: To provide a local forum for consideration and investigation of ethical problems and issues.
In 1992, the City Council passed an ordinance creating the Jacksonville Ethics Commission. With the State of Florida's Commission on Ethics and city ethics ordinances, a local Commission brings a valuable service to city officers and employees by providing a forum for consideration of ethics problems and questions.
NOTICE--NOVEMBER, 2008 Opening for a position in the Ethics Commission. Because of the expiration of the term limit of one of the Commission's appointees, the Commission is now accepting applications for consideration for this position.
If you are interested, please submit your application by Dec. 10, 2008, to ethics@coj.net (or call Christine Lyle for information 630-7129). Include the following:
1. A resume
2. A statement on why you want to be on the Ethics Commission and
3. A statement on why you are qualified to be on the Commission.
The Nominating Committee will meet to discuss the applications on Dec 15, 2008, at 2:30 p.m. in City Hall.
The Commission is composed of nine members, and one member is appointed by each of the following: the City Council, the Mayor, the School Board, the Civil Service Board, the State Attorney, and the Chief Judge of the Circuit Court. The remaining three are appointed by a majority vote of the Commission (noted with *).
